General Data Protection Regulation GDPR
This year, at DIDS 2018 conference, organized by RNIDS (the Register of NationalDomainsof Serbia), we met with a new and surely revolutionary move by the European Union, which will significantly change Internet business, both in Europe and around the world. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the General Regulation on the Protectionof Personal Data is a law that will come into force on May 25, 2018. This law concerns the protection of data from service users, buyer on the Internet, which has byallmeansbeenabused so many times. What will change this law will be briefly seen below, and we leave you to consider whether he will bring more good or bad. We are all aware that these days it is much easier to get information than ever before. 1 Unfortunately, this option was abused by many social media pages and, etc. Stealing some important informations about people’s life and identity is a treft and serious crime against the humans right and main points of democracy itself. The GDPR regulation will stop these violent attacks on private profiles, or it should stop it. The subject to the protection of this law is you and me and all those who access a website with the intention of purchasing a product or service onthatsite.Alldatathatapotentialbuyerleaves to make a purchase must be protected, ie. They may stay within the company’s base. Let’s take the example. You are an owner of the online shop, dropshipper, on the platformlikeAliexpress, and I am your customer. I need to give you all of my personal informations if I want to order something from your store. You will have my full name, address, phone number, and all of the info from my credit card. Since now it wasn’t regulated by the law that you needtodeleteallof my data from your system after my completed order. Now with GDPR regulation you have to delete all of my personal informations once when I give you the confirmation that my order has arrived. Is this sound good, we are not sure? For all of your buyers it will be annoying, because this regulation means that your customers needs to add all of their informations again, andagain every time when they want to order something from your store. Pretty annoying right? This is the main reason why we are getting so much messages right now from the apps like Viber, WhatsUp, Aliexpress, and similar applications which we all using. They need to protect your privacy and they need to respect your legal right for keeping safe your personal information. But we will talk about these deeply in next blog when the focus will be on the Facebook and the fraud from them part. Let’s get back on the GDPR rules.
If the company chooses to share your personal informations with someone, the person whose information must be informed about it and must give its consent. Also, it must have the right to waive the known rules and conditions of use at any time ,and to require that its data be wiped out, which are no longer relevant to the process of delivering the products or services themselves. One interesting thing about the previous item is that these data can not be erased. They will remain only where they need to stay, such as, for example, accounts, etc. This is certainly justified, because it is necessary for an efficient economic and in accordance with the law of keeping the company. Certainly, the data left should only be used in these cases. The good thing about this regulation is in the new rights that the buyer will get. The buyer has the right to request that his data be transferred to someone else. If there is a breakthrough in the base, the buyer must be informed about it within the next 72 hours. If the buyer suspects of any violation of the law he has the right to contact the Data Protection Officer Now when the end of May is close, all the companies who are working with databases are preparing for this regulation. They are attending the courses, and connecting with the GDPR consultants who are in charge for implementation of this law regulation. In this concluding, we want to share another very important fact with you, which is why we believe that this law will make the sweep or revolution all over the world. One of the main points is that this law applies to all companies that operate in the countries of the European Union, but also to the countries outside of it, if they are doing the business with the customers wholivesin the EU countries. This fact opens a new chapter of the debate, but we will stand there. We hope that we helped you to learn what GDPR is and wh yit is so important, we want to inspire you to continue your study further yourself. What is your opinion, will this law bring more bad or good and why. We are interested in your opinion, so we are expecting your comments below
