“Industry 4.0 & digitalization” and the “Internet of Things” are central topics in the current discussion. This area involves positions that can support enterprises in the transformation of business and production processes as well as products towards digitalisation.

The world of work is constantly changing and nobody is spared from a change in mindset.
What does the concept “Industry 4.0 digitalization” mean and what kind of changes will it bring about? Industrial production processes will change drastically and the physical and digital worlds will merge.
The effect on the number of jobs in Germany remains to be seen. Reinhold Feste, the President of the VDMA, estimates the number of new jobs in the area of Industry 4.0 digitalization to be in the region of 10 000. Spiegel online, in turn, cites 390 000 as a possible number of new jobs.
Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Andrea Nahles has initiated a dialogue process “Work 4.0” and worked out concrete action options for the world of work in the time of digital revolution.
The implementation recommendation for the future project 4.0 digitalization is described aptly: “In emerging Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) objects, including everyday items, will become intelligent through programmability, storage capacity, sensors and communication capabilities. Through a so-called Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication they are able to exchange information independently, trigger actions and manage themselves mutually, either directly or over the internet. This enormously improves the execution of industrial processes in the production, industry engineering, material use as well as supply chain and life cycle management, leading to a new form of industrialisation: Industry 4.0. The Cyber-Physical Systems for Smart Factories can also be described as Cyber-Physical Production Systems (CPPS).”
What is “Industry 4.0 digitalization”?
“Industry 4.0 digitalization” is the fourth industrial revolution and has been developed in strategic cooperation between the German Federal Government and industry.
The entrepreneurial value-adding processes – particularly in production and supply chain – should be more strongly aligned with flexibility, re-configuration, resource efficiency, ergonomics and integration.
Based on digitalisation and availability of all relevant information, all those involved in the value adding will be linked in real time with continuous improvements. What follows are dynamic, real-time optimised, self-organised and enterprise-wide value-adding networks. Thereby costs, availability and resource use will be improved.
The quality certificate ISO 9001:2015 has also been developed further. The standard now sets, parallel to the “Industry 4.0” strategy, emphasis on expansion of target groups (customers, employees, suppliers, cooperation partners and cost carriers), knowhow, process-orientated approach as well as on comprehensive and systematic process management.
Industry 4.0 digitalization Recruiting
Industry 4.0 digitalization requires especially IT and software specialists who are indispensable for the challenges that await companies. Attracting employees is no longer just about corresponding salary or compensation offers, flexible working time etc. The challenge involves more than that: how can these candidates be won over with internal means? The task of the HR department has become clearly more complex and multi-dimensional: earlier it was enough to publish a vacancy in the newspaper, today numerous social media activities must be considered.
Starting point:
Industry 4.0 digitalization sets high demands on goal-orientated Recruiting and Headhunting. The German economy has grown strongly over the last years without this growth proportionately being reflected on the job market. The prospect for a trend shift is enormous.
Industry 4.0 digitalization – the Internet of Things signifies a possibly seamless linking of production and consumption and is the transmission from analogic reality into digital information.
Industry 4.0 offers companies huge opportunities whilst also being a huge challenge. The internal Industry 4.0 builds on Operational Excellence and Lean Production. Externally it is about new business models through new data and new forms of collaboration between suppliers, producers and customers, but also about recruitment of suitable employees.
Stratigo® Personalberatung Führungskräfte GmbH expects the importance of newspaper job advertisements to continue to diminish and headhunters with discreet search and personal discussions to come to use particularly in higher salary brackets and upper management level.
